GB Grid Ref Compass mobile app
GPS / Map Reading App for Android, iPhone and Windows Phone Smartphones
GB Grid Ref Compass is a Mapping / GPS app for walkers. The app shows the user their current position, according to the National Grid reference system.
The National Grid covers Great Britain only. Whilst the app can be used worldwide, the grid references generated will be of little use outside of Great Britain.
The app also shows the current Latitude and Longitude of the device, in both OSGB36 and WGS 84 forms.
In additional to pinpointing the current location, an on-screen Compass is also provided to aid navigation.
No internet connection is required to use the application.
The app is only compatible with Windows Phone, iPhone and Android Smartphone models that have GPS capabilities. Additionally, the Compass will only function if the Device has a Hardware Magnetometer (Compass).
The LCD can be set to stay on, so that it does not power off during your walk according to your device settings.
A Graphical Illustration of the "National Grid" Grid Letters is also provided within the application.
From Version 1.1, location information can be sent out via Tweet (iPhone Only, Twitter Account must be set up), Email, or Text Message.
